I’m curious. I see a growing trend of companies making flat bars once more, and bike manufacturers choosing the install them as oem product. I’ve always been a riser bar user, with the exception of my small divergence into alt bars such as the salsa woodchipper.
What are your thoughts? Why are flat bars a growing trend? Are they better for trail riding?

I am driving from Boston to Portland, OR. I am currently in Billings Montana where a couple of hours ago my bikes (which were locked to the rack) were stolen. One is a 2011 Trek Fuel EX 8 in matte black size 15.5” with Mavic tubeless wheels and a Thomson Seatpost and shimano m540 pedals.
The other is my beloved Surly 1x1 in green size 15” with dirty dog skull stem, Chris King headset & single speed hubs lace to surly large marge rims custom painted red. The cranks and pedals are green. A “tommy cog” is bolted to the rear hub making it fixed gear.
PLEASE REPOST! Maybe someone in Montana has seen them and I can be reunited with the 2 things that bring me happiness.
Please message me with questions or advice about stolen bikes in the mid west.
A police report has been filed but my job in PDX starts soon so I must keep moving.
Thank you.
Gebla 29er. It’s not strictly built as a separable bike however the rear frame can be detached like any other soft tail bikes so it can fall into the types of bikes I cover in this Tumblr site. Since 29er wheels with tyres mounted on are too fat to fit inside airline legal suitcase or cardboard box or whatever packaging material used the tyres must be totally deflated or even removed from the rims for air travel. This particular bike may also require removal of the front fork as it seems quite bulky to form the part of the separated front half of the bike….

Very curious bike!
